Russian Pellet Union signed a Cooperation Agreement with Preferred by Nature and BiomassConsult!

Good news from Vologda. At the international forest forum “Russian Forest” the Russian Pellet Union (RPU) signed a cooperation agreement with “Preferred by Nature”, one of the leading biomass certification bodies in Russia. The agreement promotes the certification of sustainable biomass production in Russia, and members of the RPU obtain a 10% discount on certification services.

A similar cooperation agreement was signed with “BiomassConsult”, the leading biomass consultancy agency in Russia, and one of the founders of the Russian Pellet Union.

The agreements encourage Russian pellet producers to engage in sustainable forestry and biomass certification systems such as FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) and SBP (Sustainable Biomass Program) and to implement a responsible approach to avoiding illegal wood in their chain of custody, in compliance with the requirements of the EU Timber Regulation.
