Webinar of the Russian Pellet Union "Changes to the requirements of the leading European certification systems for wood pellets: ENplus®, DINplus, SURE and SBP"

The Russian Pellet Union (RPU) is hosting a webinar on "Changes to the requirements of the leading European certification systems for wood pellets", which will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 8.30 – 10.45 CET.

Today, all leading European certification systems for wood pellets are either finalising their work on the development of their requirements, or have already started to implement them.

The rapidly developing market for high-quality wood pellets is interested in stricter requirements and new business opportunities. At the same time, the Renewable Energy Directive “RED II” has set new sustainability requirements for medium and large consumers of solid biofuels in the EU.

The organisations managing the certification systems will give presentations on the latest developments. Will it be difficult to meet the new requirements? Do certification systems offer new market opportunities? Are there new ways to certify the production and trade of wood pellets? This are only a few of questions we will be highlighting.

The RPU took part in the development process of three of the certification systems. For example, our union stood up for Russian pellet producers during the still ongoing revision process of the SBP standards, and not without avail. At the final stage of the revision process, SBP decided to reconsider several significant provisions that would have made SBP certification significantly more difficult, time-consuming and costly for all pellet producers using FSC-certified feedstock.

We look forward to meeting you at our event!
