The main objective of the Russian Pellet Union is to provide an objective platform that reduces barriers to sustainable development of Russia's solid biomass sector.
The Union’s objectives are determined and set forth by its Members. Task Groups are formed to address specific strategic challenges and pressing issues. Both Members and Partners of the Union are welcome to participate in the Task Groups. Topics of interest are, for example, logistic bottlenecks and transport tariffs, laws and regulations related to the biomass sector, the domestic use of biomass as an energy source, the reliability of business partners, work-safety, sustainable forest management and foreign biomass certification schemes, and the impact of foreign sanctions.
Regarding relevant foreign regulatory processes and the constantly evolving certification requirements, Russia’s pellet industry participants are insufficiently informed and heard. The Russian pellet sector is underrepresented within organizations of importance to the future of the entire biomass sector. The Union has the objective to bridge this information gap and provide objective and unbiased input to its members, as well as foreign organisations working in this field.
The Union focuses on improving trust in the sector. Regarding the export of solid biomass from Russia, the Union welcomes cooperation with clients, NGOs and other stakeholders on advancing present practices on due diligence, traceability, and evaluating information sources.
